what’s your favorite way to devise personalities for characters? PCs or NPCs I like using tv and movie actors/characters. It helps to keep mannerisms and voices fairly consistent. Even if my Christopher Walken impression is shitty, Finger the goblin smuggler gets a distinctive presentation.

I like to give them a hobby, job, or goal then build the personality from there. I think about who likes X then try to twist it. So a beekeeper who doesn’t really like honest but is fascinated with bees. Or a cleric of Lathander who follows the gods tenets but has goth style.
