@JeremyECrawford When running a game do you prefer a character to have a role-playing reason for multi-classing? Not just for an ability.

As a DM, I prefer choices in my game—whether made by me or my players—to be motivated by story and entertainment first, not by rules. #DnD https://t.co/Qi8WOCE2iT

That was a careful answer, but I think that nobody is a Firefighter /Parent..they are themselves and gather skills as they go. A multi lcass character is a person with skills, and if you are a rogue/paladin or something you really are an assassin of the church or whatever. If you want to multiclass go for it, and meld your story to the changes.
Multi-Classing is first and for-most a choice of the player and what he / she invision’s that character’s persona to be or become. As the D.M. one should always make it clear that a character player may have a multi-class character at any time, but they do need to have an idea as to how they want that character to be portrayed (or be that P.C.’s characteristic) and follow through. Restricting player’s the ability of Multi-Classing is like restricting “Alignment’s” to player’s via a Campaign……it’s wrong and VERY short sighted of the D.M. / Gaming World, it just lack’s bravery and the challenge’s to understand a larger world.
Example myself: If I were to make a character reflecting my “Real-Life” person, that P.C. would have to be a fighter, mage, cleric, rouge with aspect’s of a Necromancer and A Paladin in addition to being a Druid / Witch… Contrary to the Alignment Hype’s of the Gaming World, I am a very Nice guy with much understanding and far more compassion than many. The Skill Set’s of my P.C. would more than D&D / Pathfinder have to offer in any 350+ page book just on Skill’s. So let the Player Multi-class and live to express Fail’s / Fame with dignity.
