@JeremyECrawford where do you stand on the debate between bites doing 1d4 damage? I feel that a bite from a tiefling/human, etc should really only do 1 but my DM is insisting they should be as powerful as a dagger

In D&D's rules, your body parts aren't considered weapons. Some creatures have one or more natural weapons, which are an exception to that rule.
