Where do you start when it comes to shaping a PCs personality, their behaviors, motivations? It can start from various places. Sometimes there's a character from some other literature or medium that I want to emulate, or it might stem from whatever I know of the setting or plot I'm going to play in.

What do you do when, for lack of a better term, there’s ‘character block’ and its just…. Blank? Nothing seems to jump out as a fun, exciting idea to RP? Usually reassess if I want to play in that particular campaign 🙂
It can help to consume some kind of media that resonates with whatever kind of game you're looking at playing. Talk to the DM, see what the themes are going to be, check out some fitting shows/movies/books/comics.
