If this is a question that should be asked under one of your articles, let me know. I don’t really understand Lizardfolk. As far as 5th edition is concerend would Cold Sun, Poison Dusk, and Dragonborn be considered subraces of lizardfolk? Have you read Dungeon #185? Cold Sun are lizardfolk. Dragonborn are dragonborn. Poison Dusk are lizardfolk, dragonborn and kobolds who've been influenced by fiends. And to the settlers, they are all "Scales."

I did. I guess I was confused by the special names dragonborn and cold sun were using. The more I’ve read, the more I think lizard folk wouldn’t make a good choice as a player race, except in special circumstances. Special circumstances, certainly. A lizard folk raised among humans, who have the Cold Sun dream but doesn’t understand it. A lizardfolk from Xen’drik whose culture is less alien.

Or one from Q’barra on a quest requiring them to work with humans, who has learned how to communicate better than most.

But in my Q’barra campaign the communication and cultural barrier between humans and lizardfolk is an important part of the campaign, and I’d discourage a lizardfolk PC.
