I’ve allowed my ranger to use armour and magical items on their animal companions, limited to armour and pendants. Mostly because I typically the animal companion gets sidelined during combat or dies trying to give someone a flank bonus or gets used for cheesy petting RP. I’ve also allowed players to play the rangers animal companion which offers a strange dynamic on the game.
